Vehicle overview
Here is an exceptionally clean, low-mileage example of one of Chevrolet’s most recognizable performance cars of the 1980s.
This 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Super Sport has just 38,800 original miles and comes with a clean CARFAX showing only two owners. It has spent its life in Minnesota and is remarkably clean inside, outside, and underneath.
1988 was the final year for this generation of the Monte Carlo and the final year of the classic rear-wheel-drive G-body Monte Carlo SS, making it a particularly desirable year for collectors and enthusiasts. Production was also much lower than the previous year, with approximately 16,000 Monte Carlo SS models produced for 1988.
This particular car also appears to remain very stock and original in appearance, with no obvious major modifications or alterations. That is becoming increasingly difficult to find as so many of these cars have been modified over the years.
Finished in white with the iconic red SS striping and a gray interior, it has the unmistakable look that made the Monte Carlo SS such an important part of Chevrolet’s performance lineup during the 1980s.
Under the hood is Chevrolet’s 5.0L High Output V8 with a four-barrel carburetor, backed by a four-speed automatic overdrive transmission.
The Monte Carlo SS package also included performance-oriented suspension, distinctive aerodynamic bodywork, rear spoiler, aluminum wheels, tachometer, and other upgrades that separated it from the standard Monte Carlo.

For anyone who wants to dig even deeper into the originality and equipment of the car, be sure to check out the photos. We have included a clear photo of the factory RPO sticker showing the car’s original Regular Production Option codes so you can see how the car was originally equipped.
The 1988 Monte Carlo SS represents the end of an era for Chevrolet. These were among the last traditional rear-wheel-drive, V8-powered, carbureted performance coupes Chevrolet offered before the Monte Carlo eventually returned years later on a completely different front-wheel-drive platform.
Finding a Monte Carlo SS is not difficult. Finding a final-year example with only 38,800 original miles, two-owner history, a clean CARFAX, stock appearance, documented RPO codes, and this level of condition is a different story.
Make sure to check out all of the photos and especially the videos. The videos give you a much better look at just how clean and well-preserved this car is inside, outside, underneath, and under the hood.
Whether you’re looking for an ’80s collectible, a weekend cruiser, or simply a very well-preserved example of Chevrolet’s legendary G-body era, this 1988 Monte Carlo SS checks a lot of boxes.
